Hometown: Lyons, Indiana Education: B.S. Agronomy, Purdue University Experience: 8 years in Farm Manager, 2 years as a crop consultant Family: wife Kelly; 3 sons (Garrett, Aiden and Broden) Church: Mansfield United Methodist |
I grew up on a grain and livestock farm in Southern Indiana just North of Vincennes. My folks still live on the family farm. They share crop out grain production, but still run a cow-calf operation. I was very involved in the local FFA and 4-H. My oldest son still spends a lot of time with Grandma and Grandpa in the summer and is involved in the same 4-H program that I was.
Shortly after graduating from Purdue University in 1996 I moved to Stonington, IL to work as a crop consultant. After two years I accepted a position with Commerce Bank of Bloomington IL to be a farm manager and help coordinate their seed testing and purchasing program. In 2003 the Commerce Bank Ag Services was purchased by Soy Capital Bank and Trust. Our farm management business joined in with Soy Capitals to create a working staff of 22 farm managers and 250,000 acres of farm management. I retained my role as a seed purchasing and research coordinator. Also I kept my role in making recommendations to our farm managers and operators on hybrids and soybean varieties.
My professional career has been based on helping growers increase their income and maximize profits. As a crop consultant and a farm manager I tried to bring new ideas, pass along opportunities to try new things and help growers place the most suitable products on their acres. My position at iCORN gives me the opportunity to focus in on what I loved most about being a farm manager, seed and seed research. I thoroughly enjoyed working with seed companies to find the quirks that made each product unique and to perform at its best. I look forward to helping you do the same with iCORN.
